Travel to the Outer Hebrides is by ferry or air.

The Outer Hebrides or Western Isles are linked to the mainland by Caledonian MacBrayne ferries sailing the routes from Ullapool to Stornoway, Uig to Tarbert, Uig to Lochmaddy and Oban to Castlebay and Lochboisdale.
There are also inter-island ferries sailing from Barra to Eriskay and Berneray to Harris.
- Flybe, Eastern Airways and HIA all operate to and from Stornoway airport.
- Flybe/Loganair and HIA operate to and from Benbecula airport.
- HIA and Flybe/Loganair operate to and from Barra airport.
Once you have arrived, there are excellent bus services across the islands at very reasonable prices.
